About now in high summer
What in the garden do you discover?
It is the season for the sun lover.
Perky lupins with spires shining when the weather is sunny.
Beguiling echinaceas of the daisy family performing.
Adored anemones proudly and reliably flowering.
Colour themed borders a vigorous jungle blooming.
Tender perennials at their best with annuals competing,
Such as the half hardy sunflower, towering without toppling.
Everything shooting and spurting as if all are racing.
It is almost as if the garden needs taming!
Such is the impact of the sunshine they are embracing.
Pink dahlias, pink salvias, pink fuschias, pink being stunning.
A hot spot will offer colours comfortably clashing,
Purple against orange always looks dashing.
Whilst if it is orange against pink you are blending,
The effect is dramatic, ever eye catching.
Yellow adds a flash like lightening.
Who could ever tire of gardening?
The colour in high summer,
Is a tonic due to good weather.
Yes, it really is the season for sunshine to cover,
And do its best to make us happier.
Lord, the warmth of high summer is glorious in outcome. Thank You so much for gardens overflowing with bright colours. Amen.
